Every year, Israel observes two modern holidays back-to-back. The first, Yom Hazikaron, is a day dedicated to remembering fallen soldiers. Because Israel is such a small nation, everyone who lives there knows someone who has lost a family member serving in the Israel Defense Forces. The second, Yom Ha’atzmaut, is a joyous day celebrating the modern state’s independence in 1948. Without these fallen soldiers, there would be no independence! We hope you learn something new about both important days.
