Two weeks short of two years after October 7th, the IDF Army divisions are methodically taking control of Gaza City neighborhoods, doing their best to prioritize the troops protection and avoid harm to the hostages still held in captivity, while destroying what’s left of the Hamas strongholds. At the same time, the United States has emerged as the sole power still firmly in Israel’s camp, with a concerted Arab-European effort to recognize Palestinian Statehood, even though this move has little to no practical effect. Can the military and diplomatic actions be synchronized, or does the divergence prolong the war and deepen the suffering all around?
